CONTENT CREATION & Media appearances

I am available for media appearances to talk about sports marketing topics. Previous media appearances include BBC Radio Scotland and A View From The Terrace.

Below are some examples of personal projects and media appearances.

THE MARKETING ASSIST SPORTS MARKETING NEWSLETTER

First launched in December 2021, my newsletter is now sent to over 500 sports marketing professionals across teams and sports including the English Premier League, SPFL, NBA, AFL, NRL, agencies and sponsors.

I had found a lot of the sports business emails I was receiving were indeed just that, business focused. The purpose of my fortnightly email is to provide inspiration and relevant things of interest to help people do their jobs.

GINS OF SCOTLAND

I created and launched GinsofScotland.co.uk in 2017 combining a love of gin and spotting what was a niche (Scottish Gin) that I could build a presence in.

Within the first year, I managed to rank first on Google for the term Scottish Gin. The website has had over 100,000 visits and continues to generate revenue via affiliate links.

Scottish football marketing podcast

I co-hosted the Scottish Football Marketing Podcast with Chris Samson, recording 60 episodes over two and a half years.

We were fortunate that before launch we were able to make it an official Scottish FA podcast although I still saw it as a side-project, recording it mostly out of work hours.

YOU TALKING TO ME?

The occasions when someone wanted to hear more about what I had to say. I have also been on BBC Radio Scotland on occasion to discuss the sports marketing implications of certain news topics such as Djokovic at the Australian Open and the Exeter Chiefs rebrand.

PURE FITBAW PODCAST: MARKETING CLUB X

Gavin Miller from the Pure Fitbaw Podcast invited Chris Samson and I on to find out from us how we would market a fictional club he had supplied a brief for.

On the podcast I go through my thinking and how I would approach it.

campbell’s football podcast

I was invited onto Campbell’s podcast to chat about my career, Scottish football marketing and my love of football amongst other things.

A VIEW FROM THE TERRACE

Having built a good relationship with the team behind BBC Scotland’s A View From The Terrace I worked with them on a feature around Scotland’s first national esports team. As part of the feature and as esports lead at the Scottish FA, I spoke about why esports was part of the Scottish FA’s plans.
